This readme file describes the contents of the directory sb_models_grid1 which contains the starburst models computed with the method of Efstathiou, Rowan-Robinson & Siebenmorgen (2000, MNRAS, 313, 734) but for a range of giant molecular cloud (GMC) masses and densities. The models are available as a tar archive (sb_models_grid1.tar). The models incorporate the stellar population synthesis model of Bruzual & Charlot, 1993, ApJ, 405, 538. The treatment of the small grains and PAHs is according to Siebenmorgen & Krugel, 1992, AA, 259, 614. The naming scheme of the various files is self explanatory. For example salp_t=10Myrs_tv=50.spec is the sed for a 10Myrs old starburst in which the initial optical depth of its constituent GMCs is 50 (corresponding to assumed parameters eta=0.25,n_av=300,M_GMC=10^7). All models assume an e-folding time of 20Myrs. A Salpeter IMF and a mass range of 0.1-125 solar masses is assumed throughout. Each file lists the predicted spectra emitted by a starburst in which the star formation rate at t=0 is 1 solar mass per year. The first column is the wavelength in microns and the second column is nuL_nu. The two integers at the top of the file are the number of spectra listed (in this case one) and the number of wavelength grid points (in this case 84).
